This piece began one particularly gray, Nebraska afternoon over coffee in a cluttered concepting room. Our client, Panda Express, had challenged us to help them create a campaign to tell the story of their new Chinese Spare Ribs. The dish was a fusion of traditional American and authentic Chinese barbecues.
We tossed a few ideas around, landed on this one, hired an amazing docu-cinematic director, ended up humming "Feudin' Banjos" in countless client presentations, our creative director travelled to Hong Kong, I travelled to Texas, and in the end we got this 30 second national television spot.
